Interventies gericht op educatie en empowerment of die uit meerdere componenten bestaan en ingebed zijn in een globale ondersteunende aanpak, blijken het meest effectief te zijn, zeker als er een component ‘outreach’ aan wordt toegevoegd. Repressieve politiepraktijken en criminalisering van sekswerk hebben een negatieve invloed op de toegang tot ondersteunende diensten voor sekswerkers.
